Grand Traverse Pavilions Awarded Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission

Traverse City, MI – August 3, 2017 –Grand Traverse Pavilions today announced it has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Nursing Care Center Accreditation, Post-Acute Care Certification, and Memory Care Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient and resident care.

“The Joint Commission Standards represent a higher commitment to the national patient safety goals, quality of care and treatment for all patients and tells other organizations that we are committed to improving and maintaining high standards,” said Rose Coleman, COO of Clinical Services. “As an organization we voluntarily opted to pursue accreditation for our Nursing Care Center, Memory Care and Post-Acute Care to demonstrate our commitment to quality care for our residents and patients.  Doing all these at once was a big undertaking and involved over 1500 elements of standards.”

The Pavilions underwent a rigorous on-site survey July 17-20, 2017. During the review, Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated compliance with nursing care center standards related to several areas, including assistance with activities of daily living, coordination of care, and staff education and training. Surveyors also conducted on-site observations and interviews with leaders and staff of the organization.

“Joint Commission accreditation and certification provides nursing homes with a framework for the processes needed to improve the care patients and residents receive,” said Gina Zimmermann, MS, executive director, Nursing Care Center Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. “We commend Grand Traverse Pavilions for its efforts to become a quality improvement organization.”

“Earning the Nursing Care Center accreditation and our Post-Acute and Memory Care certification from The Joint Commission demonstrates Grand Traverse Pavilions commitment to excellence,” said Kory Hansen, Administrator/CEO of Grand Traverse Pavilions. “Our staff constantly strives to improve and maintain high standards of care and we are extremely proud of how well they performed during our survey and the work they do every day.”
