LeadingAge Michigan Acknowledges Grand Traverse Pavilions Staff and Trustee with Awards

Traverse City, MI – March 21, 2016– Three Grand Traverse Pavilions Employees and a Trustee of the Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation have been recognized by LeadingAge Michigan (www.leadingagemi.org) for their accomplishments in elder care.

Cindy Weber was awarded the Caring Spirit award, one of four awards given in the state, which recognizes frontline staff and direct care employees who have made a significant impact on the lives of older adults. Weber has worked as a Certified Nurse Aide at the Pavilions for 34 years, and is praised by colleagues for her kindness and dedication. “Cindy has a special touch, knows her residents individual needs and provides exemplary care. She makes a difference in the lives of her residents daily,” says Holly Edmondson, Director of Nursing.

Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation Board Trustee Evelyn Richardson was named Trustee of the Year. Richardson has served on the board for 15 years, as a past President, Vice President, and Treasurer and currently as a Trustee. She went above and beyond in 2015, agreeing to take part in SwingShift and the Stars as the celebrity dancer raising funds for PACE, the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly. She raised a record breaking $155,472. Richardson’s passion for PACE stems from a 40 year career as a registered nurse assisting older adults in maintaining health and achieving quality of life.

“Evelyn has truly poured her heart and soul into supporting the Pavilions and PACE,” said Korvyn Hansen, Administrator/CEO of Grand Traverse Pavilions. “The frail elderly in our community couldn’t ask for a better champion. Evelyn is so giving of time and talents and has shown her commitment time and time again.”
