Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix Featured Speaker at the May 25 Successful Aging Series

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Meteorologist Joe Charlevoix will be the featured presenter Monday, May 25, at the Successful Aging Series at Grand Traverse Pavilions. He will discuss weather trends in Northern Michigan and how seasonal changes affect the individual. The 2 p.m. program will be in the multi-purpose room.

Charlevoix provides weather and outdoor reports on Up North Live - WPBN/WTOM TV in Traverse City. He appears daily during the week on 7&4 News Today.

 

Born in Norway, a small town in the Upper Peninsula, Charlevoix, has been fascinated by weather since he was three-years-old and drawing weather maps with crayons, while his eyes were glued to the television meteorologists, most notably at WLUC TV 6 in Marquette.

 

Charlevoix lived in Marquette until he was five years old. He moved to Marinette, Wis., for three months. When he was six, his family moved back to Norway, where he grew up and where his family lives today.

 

Throughout high school, Charlevoix was active in sports, band, and was class president in his senior year.  He attended Valpraiso University in Indiana, where he pursued a degree in broadcast meteorology. He interned at WGN-TV in Chicago.

 

After graduation from college, Charlevoix began working at WBKP/WBUP TV in Marquette. He also provided WKMJ-FM in Houghton with weather reports.

 

In his spare time, Charlevoix loves to travel, hunt, read, and participate in social activities.

 

In addition to the Successful Aging Series, Grand Traverse Pavilions presents the Cottage Coffees. The next program will be May 12 at 10 a.m. at Hawthorn Cottage. The featured speaker will be Trevor Tkach of the National Cherry Festival.
