Traverse City Authors Debut New Book On Hannah

 

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Peg Jonkhoff and Fred Hoisington, both of Traverse City, will unveil their new book on Traverse City founder Perry Hannah during  the Monday, Oct. 28, Successful Aging Series at Grand Traverse Pavilions.

 

The new book, Perry Hannah’s Gifts - Then & Now, is a series of short stories about Traverse City’s founder and his many gifts of land and buildings to the city. A large section of the book will highlight Hannah’s retirement home (Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home) that celebrates its 120th anniversary this year.

 

The Successful Aging program will begin at 2 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. Light snacks and beverages will be served. The new book will be available for purchase and signing in November. Proceeds will support a statue of Perry Hannah in Hannah Park.

 

Sponsored, in part, by the Comfort Keepers, the Successful Aging Series features specialists on a variety of aging and healthy living topics. The programs are held once a month and are free and open to the public.

 

Following the Hannah program, Jennifer Simmer from Hospice of Michigan, will lead the discussion on Monday, Nov. 18. The final program of the year will feature the Area Agency on Aging on Monday, Dec. 9.
