Concerts on the Lawn Competing for a LevittAMP Grant

Traverse City, MI – November 1, 2016 –The Grand Traverse Pavilions is in the running to win $25,000 to support the 2017 “Concerts on the Lawn” series. Concerts on the Lawn are free and attract thousands of music lovers to our Pavilions property every week all through the summer. The Concerts on the Lawn are about bringing community together to relax and celebrate.

The grant is sponsored by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation - a national foundation dedicated to strengthening the social fabric of America through free live music. Grand Traverse Pavilions hopes to qualify as one of 15 winning organizations competing nationally for the Levitt AMP Grant Awards.

Up to fifteen nonprofits will receive $25,000 each in matching funds to produce their own Levitt AMP Music Series—an outdoor, free concert series featuring fabulous musicians. The Concerts on the Lawn Series are free to attend and the only concert series from Michigan in the running for the grant this year.

This grant would allow for sound and stage enhancements to support the thousands that come every week to enjoy the performances with the Pavilions residents and their families. Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation submitted the proposal for Traverse City, looking for funds to enhance the Concerts on the Lawn Series held on the Grand Lawn at Grand Traverse Pavilions every summer.

Grand Traverse Pavilions’ proposal is now posted on the Levitt AMP website for public voting, http://levittamp.org

“Last year’s Concerts on the Lawn Series was the biggest and best we’ve ever produced,” said Kory Hansen, Administrator/CEO Grand Traverse Pavilions. “We had solid support from the community and an incredible line-up, making it a great season. This grant is an opportunity to expand on last year’s season and to enhance the experience for both the community and engage an ever growing roster of talented performing artists.”

What do we need from you? A successful campaign for Grand Traverse Pavilions depends on community participation to get as many online votes as possible to win $25,000. Community support is measured by the number of online votes received.
