National Cherry Festival Director to be Featured at May 12 Cottage Coffees

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Trevor Tkach,, executive director of the National Cherry Festival, will discuss the festival and its impact on the local economy.

The 10 a.m. program will take place May 12 as part of the Cottage Coffees series at Hawthorn Cottage. The series is sponsored, in part, by Comfort Keepers

The Cottage Coffees take place monthly at the historic cottage. There is no charge and the public is invited. Light beverages and snacks are served.

Prior to his executive director position, Tkach served as interim director and as the festival s business development manager for five years.

Tkach is credited with the development and growth of a number of the festival s profit centers. He has also been instrumental in shaping the festival s cutting edge web strategies and on-line marketing and ticketing programs.

He is an active member of Rotary and sits on the advisory board for Central Michigan University s Recreation Parks and Leisure Department.  He holds an associate s degree from Northwestern Michigan College, a bachelor s degree from Eastern Michigan University, and a master s of business administration from the University of Michigan - Flint.

Following Tkach s presentation, the next Cottage Coffee will be June 9. The remarks will be by Laura Oblinger from Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce.

Hawthorn Cottage is one of three historic buildings that offer assisted and independent living to residents within Grand Traverse Pavilions. The cottage is located across from Munson Hospitality House on Medical Campus Drive.

Grand Traverse Pavilions is governed by the Department of Human Services Board and owned by Grand Traverse County. The senior community is the largest county-owned nursing facility in Michigan.

Located on Grand Traverse Commons, The Pavilions offers a wide range of programs and services, including adult day and overnight respite, independent and assisted living, long term care, short term rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, dementia services, and health and wellness classes.
